  • Shwmae. Forgive any spelling errors, I'm on my phone. CzechOut from the TARDIS Wiki will be getting in touch with me soon regarding this Wiki's layout. He should be helping us create a homepage and giving us the same layout as the TARDIS wiki (hopefully with cool flag language links). I'll let you know as soon as he gives me his estimated time of arrival so you can decide whether you want to be here. I think we may try the Wikia group chat. Anyway, he's due any day now. Alternatively, if you want me to pass on any suggestions, leave them here. Hwyl am y tro.

  • I'm not sure what's going on but on both the English and Welsh Doctor Who Wikis, I've been blocked for 'vandalism', which is something I most certainly didn't do. I haven't been given an explanation for it. What makes it stranger is that sometimes it says I'm not blocked.

I'm currently liaising with the official Wikia people and trying to contact an admin at the English TARDIS Wikia about the issue but I think maybe I was blocked by mistake instead of another user. Either that or it's a bug. If you see that I'm blocked then I hope you don't take it seriously. I've only ever good on both Wikis so to be blocked by one of them is a little insulting.

I thought I'd update you so you weren't left confused... as confused as I am haha.

    • It's all been sorted. The admin I spoke to on the other Wiki was nonethewiser. Apparently there was no record of a block haha. Weird.

    • Glad to hear it has been sorted - I wouldn't have had a clue myself!

  • Hey there!

I've noticed you're the founder of this Wiki. Myself, I'd like to help you out. I'm currently teaming up with my friend to add info to this Wiki. I tend to write the article with my acquired Welsh (I studied it at University) and he proof-reads and irons out the easy mistakes, as he's a native and certain set expressions are new to me - always learning!

There are things I'd like to add to the Wiki too, such as new templates and maybe considering tweaking the aesthetics. But these things are not possible for normal 'users'.

If you don't mind me helping you out and making managing the Wiki easier, I think we could make a good admin team. Could I also ask your level of Welsh? Are you native? And do you have any official certificiates in the linguistic side of it? GCSE Welsh, A-Level or graduate maybe?

    Diolch am dy amser!

    Matthew

    • Hi Matthew, I have been watching your progress and I have to say I'm very pleased and grateful for your hardwork. I've almost finished exams in uni so I am hoping to help you out soon. I am a native speaker and I've learnt since I was four years old, thanks for asking. I would be happy to give you an admin role, especially as I'd struggle to help you at this day and age. Feel free to improve templates and so on, I could definitely use it, and we'll probably need a better background image, and I'm not very technically skilled when it comes to the computer.

Once again, thanks very much for your help in making this a more thorough and rich database for our Welsh speakers, I really appreciate it.

      Thomas

    • You're an awesome guy!

I'd much appreciate it if you could trawl through any and all pages and tweak any errors that you find. I'm not a native speaker but I've been learning the linguistics and immersing myself for a few years now. I'm not perfect but I'm nearly there!

I'm also updating the Forum page, that you can find above under 'Community'. I just want to share with you how I've been doing things. It's been pretty much the English Wiki's layout. It works really well in Welsh, I've noticed. It's just to ensure that we don't go different ways. E.g., I'd like to edit "Rose (rhaglen)" to "Rose (stori deledu)". Just to be annoying and picky, I suppose.

Thanks again and there's nothing more I want than to make Welsh more accessible to young people and learners. Moreover, every time I add the Welsh links to the foreign Wikis, I always ensure I label it 'Welsh link' to make them know we're here hehe.

      Diolch eto!

      Matthew

    • I've been experimenting with the looks. I'm not settled on the current layout at all so don't worry that it's settling. I wanted your opinion on it. I may ask CzechOut of the English Wiki if he knows anyone who could make us a front page.

  • Heya :) You're a busy li'l beaver, aren't you? Didn't know you'd created a Welsh language version. That's great! I hope you build it out a little more. Once it hits 30 pages we can link it to Tardis! I'd love to be able to do that by the time the new series starts in August. Do you have anyone helping you over here, or are you the last Welsh guy standing?

Just wanted to drop by and tell you that I switched your main URL to just be cy.doctorwho, as that's the standard format for Doctor Who wikis. It tends to be better of SEO rankings if you have a simple declaration of the name of the franchise (doctor who), without anything else around it. Plus, it'll be easier for non-Welsh speakers to find. Your old URL still works, of course, so any links you may have in your bookmarks folder will still be valid.

    • Hey, I dunno if you know him, but thefartydoctor is another Welsh Doctor Who fan. He started up the Spongebob Welsh wiki, so he may be able to help you. I've left him a message at his talk page at tardis. You may want to follow up in Welsh, or leave him a message here, on his uncreated message wall, in order to draw him to the wiki.
