Doctor Who Confidential ist eine Dokumentarfilmreihe, die von 2005 bis 2011 auf BBC Three ausgestrahlt wurde.
In Doctor Who Confidential wurde über den Dreh von Doctor Who berichtet, Produktionsteam und Darsteller wurden interviewt usw. Die Serie umfasst mit Specials 99 Episoden.
Beginnende mit dem Neutart der Serie und der Episode Rose erfolgte die Ausstrahlung mit wenigen Ausnahmen direkt im Anschluss an die Ausstrahlung von Doctor Wh auf BBC One. Jede Episode der ersten beiden Staffeln war ungefähr 30 Minuten lang. Die Episoden der Staffeln 3 und 4 waren ungefähr 45 Minuten lang, eine Länge, die der Länge der behandelten Episode entsprach. Passend zu den Specials des Jahres 2009 waren die Episoden 60 Minuten lang.
Absetzung[]
Am 28. September 2011 gab BBC Three bekannt, dass Doctor Who Confidential nach sechs Staffeln absetzen werde, und verwies auf Budgetprobleme beim Sender. Obwohl ursprünglich berichtet wurde, dass die letzte Folge am 25. Dezember 2011 in Verbindung mit dem Weihnachtsspecial ausgestrahlt werden würde, war die letzte Episode die zum Ende der Doctor Who Staffel 32 am 1. Oktober 2011.
Da die Absetzung während der Produktion des Weihnachtsspecials bekannt gegeben wurde, ist es ungewiss, ob diesbezüglich vertrauliches Filmmaterial gedreht wurde oder ob dieses Material in Zukunft in irgendeiner Form veröffentlicht wird.

Wiederverwertung[]
Die meisten Episoden von Doctor Who Confidential wurden später in einer Version namens Confidential Cut Down neu bearbeitet, hauptsächlich um einen 10- bis 15-minütigen Sendeplatz für Wiederholungssendungen auf BBC Three zu schaffen und um in die DVD-Boxen jeder Serie aufgenommen zu werden.
