The Claws of Axos (Las garras de Axos) es la tercera historia de la octava temporada clásica de Doctor Who. Fue la primera historia escrita por Bob Baker y Dave Martin, quienes permanecieron trabajando en la serie clásica hasta finales de la década de 1970 y son responsables por la creación de K9.
Esta historia introdujo a los alienígenas conocidos como Axons, los cuales jamás volvieron a aparecer en televisión, a pesar de la gran popularidad que tuvieron. Tan solo aparecieron en la historia de cómic titulada The Golden Ones, publicada en 2010.
Sinopsis[]
Un grupo de alienígenas de piel dorada aterrizan en la Tierra y ofrecen tecnología asombrosa a cambio de combustible. Pese a todo, el Doctor no pudo ser confundido, y se verá obligado a revelar la verdadera naturaleza de los Axons y a enfrentar a su enemigo, el Amo.
Una futura encarnación del Doctor conocida como el Conservador también se introdujo durante la etapa del Undécimo Doctor y apareció en The Day of the Doctor (2013).
