Les Prix Hugo sont donnés chaque année pour les meilleurs œuvres ou accomplissement dans la science-fiction ou le fantasy de l'année précédente. Le nom Hugo provient d'Hugo Gernsback, le fondateur du magazine Amazing Stories. Ces prix datent de 1955.
Doctor Who et Torchwood ont pu récolter ensemble 3 prix Hugo et 7 nominations jusqu'à présent dans la catégorie meilleur courte présentation dramatique, pour l'instant, seul Steven Moffat à récolter les prix Hugo.
