La Ventunesima Stagione andò in onda dal 5 gennaio 1984 al 30 marzo 1984; vide Peter Davison nel ruolo del Quinto Dottore e introdusse nell'episodio finale, The Twin Dilemma, Colin Baker come il Sesto.
Panoramica[]
La stagione consiste di 7 serial per un totale di 24 episodi, e durante questa abbandonano la serie i companion Tegan, Turlough e Kamelion, e viene introdotta Peri. La maggior parte degli episodi fu della normale durata di venticinque minuti, tuttavia, a causa delle programmazioni delle olimpiadi invernali del 1984, Resurrection of the Daleks venne rivisto prima della messa in onda come una storia da due episodi di quarantacinque minuti l'uno.
La prima storia con Colin Baker, The Twin Dilemma, introduce una versione modificata della sigla di apertura, includendo un leggero cambiamento del logo (anche se l'arrangiamento del tema rimase lo stesso). Fu la prima volta dalla quarta stagione che questo cambiamento avvenne nel mezzo della messa in onda degli episodi; inoltre, sempre come per la quarta stagione, il cast iniziale era cambiato completamente nella storia finale.
